Cape Town - A day after under fire Home Affairs Minister Malusi gave a
confusing explanation over the citizenship status of the Gupta family,
the department’s director-general Mkuseli Apleni was left to clear up
the mess.
At hastily arranged press conference, Apleni confirmed that Atul and
Rajesh Gupta were indeed naturalised South Africa citizens but their
sibling Ajay was refused because he had not renounced his Indian
citizenship. Ajay Gupta only holds a permanent residency of South
Africa.
Apleni said Atul Gupta’s citizenship was never a subject of an internal
probe by the department of home affairs because he had been granted
citizenship in 2002, having arrived in South Africa in 1994. Rajesh
“Tony” Gupta was naturalised in July 2006.
My question is that, is it really a good thing that the Gupta family are South African citizens after what they have put us through in our country?. After the massive scandals they have done, citizenship is the last thing that they should be granted in South Africa.

I don`t see why they should be refused citizenship, what is done is done, we have to forget about the past and move on
ReplyDeleteBut we can not forget about the past if it keeps coming back.
Deletewe can't trust this guptas anymore
ReplyDeleteHome Affairs will be failing the economy of South Africa if it approves the citizenship for the Guptas because this family showed clearly last year that their intention is to make the Rand depreciation against other currencies.
ReplyDeleteIn the presence of Guptas in our country, South Africa will not have any future of becoming a developed country.
DeleteThere is nothing wrong in Guptas citizenship. They have been in South Africa since years. They don't need any illegal means to have country's citizenship.
ReplyDeleteI think they should not be part of our country, they have brought so much trouble.
ReplyDeleteYes indeed, they are nothing but a disaster
