Cape Town mayor Patricia De Lille and the DA chief whip in the City of Cape Town‚ Shaun August‚ are under investigation by the DA.
They are accused of leaking “confidential party documentation to the media” as the race to succeed De Lille as Western Cape DA leader turns ugly.
DA spokeswoman Anneke Scheepers said the charges against De Lille and August were serious and could lead to expulsion from the party.
“This is not a lightweight situation... It means that there could be some serious outcome. If there is due cause‚ people will be sanctioned‚” she said.
“The investigation is basically to see what transpired and then what role did the individuals have in this incident.”
On Sunday‚ Rapport said Josh Jordaan‚ policy and strategy researcher in De Lille’s office‚ gave one of its journalists an official document with vital information omitted.
It was reportedly offered as proof that August and fellow Cape Town councillor Matthew Kempthorne were victims of a hate campaign after they were found guilty by the DA federal executive of failing to follow proper procedures in the procurement of party T-shirts in the run-up to last year's local government elections. They were fined about R50‚000 each and given suspended membership terminations. Jordaan resigned from the party on Monday.
DA federal executive chairman James Selfe said the leak of the documentation was “in violation of the party’s policy on the confidentiality of closed meetings”.
He said: “According to the story‚ this was done with the knowledge of Shaun August‚ and Patricia De Lille was aware that he was meeting with the paper.
Selfe said there were “no suspensions of any person” amid media reports that De Lille had been handed a letter of expulsion.
Five candidates are campaigning to succeed De Lille‚ but analysts say the main race is between August and human settlements MEC Bonginkosi Madikizela‚ who has the support of Premier Helen Zille.
Cape Town mayor should be investigated because these accusations may be true. Politicians are very corrupt these days. The very confidential information can be sold in exchange for money. Politicians only care about money not our needs anymore.

Fikile Mbalula resigns as ANC MP
Johannesburg - Former police minister Fikile Mbalula is the latest ANC Member of Parliament to step down.
Last week, former minister of public enterprises Lynne Browne resigned. This followed a late-night Cabinet reshuffle announcement from President Cyril Ramaphosa which resulted in the two - along with several others - being booted out of the national executive.
Mbalula has since taken up a full-time post at the ANC's headquarters as chair of the party's subcommittee on elections. He has started getting the governing party ready for the 2019 general elections by holding an election workshop last week.
"The office of the ANC chief whip confirms that former minister of police, comrade Fikile Mbalula tendered his resignation as an ANC Member of Parliament in the National Assembly," Jackson Mthembu's spokesperson Nonceba Mhlauli said in a statement.
According to my point of view Fikle Mbalula is starting to distance himself from ANC, maybe soon he will resign as ANC member the way i see things now.

GUPTA`S CITIZENSHIP
Cape Town - A day after under fire Home Affairs Minister Malusi gave a
confusing explanation over the citizenship status of the Gupta family,
the department’s director-general Mkuseli Apleni was left to clear up
the mess.
At hastily arranged press conference, Apleni confirmed that Atul and Rajesh Gupta were indeed naturalised South Africa citizens but their sibling Ajay was refused because he had not renounced his Indian citizenship. Ajay Gupta only holds a permanent residency of South Africa.
Apleni said Atul Gupta’s citizenship was never a subject of an internal probe by the department of home affairs because he had been granted citizenship in 2002, having arrived in South Africa in 1994. Rajesh “Tony” Gupta was naturalised in July 2006.
My question is that, is it really a good thing that the Gupta family are South African citizens after what they have put us through in our country?. After the massive scandals they have done, citizenship is the last thing that they should be granted in South Africa.

LISTERIOSIS OUTBREAK
Johannesburg – Minister of Health Aaron Motsoaledi has announced that government has narrowed down the sources of the deadly listeriosis outbreak in South Africa. Motsoaledi announced that the disease was
traced after several children presented with gastroenteritis in Soweto
earlier in the week. Tests were done, and it was found that they had
listeriosis.
Motsoaledi said polony was a definite source of the disease. However, he warned that products such as Viennas, Russians, Frankfurters, other sausages and cold meats not typically cooked could also be affected due to the risk of cross contamination.
The public have been advised to remove any Enterprise ready-to-eat products from their fridges and place them in a plastic bag away from other products. Keeping them among other products could cause cross contamination.

REMOVAL OF MINISTER OF POLICE "MR FIKILE MBALULA"
The recent cabinet reshuffle made by the new South African president has left some people talking. President Cyril Ramaphosa removed Mr Fikile Mbalula as the minister of police, and appointed Mr Bheki Cele as the new minister. The people of South Africa are unhappy with newly appointed minister who is known of "shoot to kill" instruction to police officers. Even though the removed minister used inappropriate language but he was doing his job.The is no hope that Bheki Cele will change the way of doing his job, i think the "shoot to kill"instruction will continue.
I want know according to our views is this a good thing for our country, how are we going to live with the fear of being shot by one`s who are meant to protect us.
My view is that the police officers must "shoot to kill" only if he/she is being attacked.
